Transition Visits
We understand that a child’s first experience in early learning is crucial, and our goal is to ensure both you and your child feel secure, comfortable, and confident in their new environment. Our enrolment and transition process is carefully designed to foster these strong partnerships, aligning directly with the National Quality Standard (NQS) Quality Area 6: Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Communities.
A Gentle Introduction: Our Transition Program
To help your child become familiar with the space, their peers, and our educators, we offer new children around three complimentary 1-hour transition visits. These visits typically occur at 10:00 am or 1:00 pm and are tailored to your child’s individual pace:
- Visit 1: Togetherness and Connection
- We encourage you to stay with your child in their room.
- This time allows our educators to connect with you, discussing your child’s unique routines, special needs, and the daily rhythm of the room.
- Your child can explore freely, knowing you are nearby for comfort and support.
- Bonds are paid during this time, this will be discussed with you during the early communication stages.
- Visits 2 & 3: Building Trust and Independence
- Depending on your child’s comfort level, we encourage you to gradually spend time away from the room (while remaining easily accessible within the centre).
- This gradual fading of parental presence is essential for educators to build trust and form deeper bonds with your child, facilitating a smooth transition from home to the group care environment.
Our Commitment to Family Partnerships
We recognise the importance of you feeling comfortable and confident in the people caring for your precious child. Our comprehensive orientation process includes:
- Enrolment Tours: When you enrol, you and your child will receive a full tour of our facilities.
- Meeting the Team: This is a vital opportunity to meet our educators face-to-face, discuss philosophies, and understand more about our centre’s commitment to quality care.
- Open Communication: By working together during this transition phase, we establish a two-way flow of information and shared decision-making, as outlined in QA6, ensuring that the service is responsive to your child’s needs from day one.
